After our $17-million resort-wide transformation, we’re not ashamed to say that we’ve never looked better. But it’s one thing when we say it, it’s something else all together when you hear it from others.

Your job: Decide to get out of town and fast. Our job: Help you find where you're headed. This week, NBCLA's Worth the Drive takes us to...
Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa: It's the large and lodge-y getaway just steps from one of SoCal's most famous mountain lakes.
Fourth of July in Lake Arrowhead: Fireworks over the lake. Classic. Plus a concert in the village and other traditional goings-on, like a firefighters' pancake breakfast.
Fireworks viewing: The resort has 21 rooms that face the lake, all with private terraces. Could you watch the sky show in your pjs? Why not?
Other options: If you don't snag a room with a private terrace, there's the barbecue buffet party. Music, dancing, kidly to-dos are on the bill. And then, a place to watch the pyrotechnics. A lakeside deck ticket is $85 for an adult, the lakeside lawn is $60 adult. The price includes two beer/wine tickets, note.
Rooms: There is a two-night minimum, and prices start at $289 a night.
Arrowhead Americana: If you haven't been up the mountain, it's a fine (and bustling) weekend to do so. Bet the small town will have its red-white-and-blue-iest best on, too.
